CASE STUDY
CENTRE CIRCLE CHILDCARE CENTRE, ELLENBROOK
A custom-designed light gauge structural steel framing system supplied for Macri Builders.
AN OVERVIEW OF THE PROJECT
A childcare centre isn’t a forgiving build. It’s a commercial project with a launch date attached, investors expecting milestones to be met, multiple contractors working to the same program, and a business preparing to open its doors. Every stage depends on the one before it. The fitout can’t begin until the framing system is complete and accurate, and any delay can quickly flow through the rest of the build. When Macri Builders took on the Centre Circle Childcare Centre in Ellenbrook, they needed a framing supplier who understood how commercial projects actually run – not just one who could roll steel.
WHAT THE BUILD DEMANDED
Commercial childcare puts a few non-negotiables on the framing:
- Large, open learning spaces – the framing system has to carry longer spans and keep internal structure out of the way of how the rooms are used.
- Multiple service penetrations – plumbing, mechanical and data all pass through the frame, so it has to be built right the first time – not cut on site.
- A fixed timeline – commercial projects run to a schedule. Every trade relies on the one before it, so if the framing system falls behind, the following trades are left waiting. Those delays can quickly flow through the rest of the project, putting the overall program at risk.
WHAT TECHSTEEL SUPPLIED
We manufactured the complete light gauge steel frame, roll-formed and engineered to the project’s specifications. Every component was made to the approved plans and checked in the workshop before it left. Because the frame was manufactured off-site to exact dimensions, it arrived as a coordinated package – ready for assembly.
PROJECT OUTCOMES
Built to the approved plans
The framing system was manufactured to the approved drawings, allowing the installation crew to assemble it with minimal on-site adjustments.
Designed for coordinated services
The framing system was manufactured to accommodate the required service penetrations, helping plumbing, electrical and mechanical trades complete their work in line with the project drawings.
Long-term structural stability
Light gauge steel provides a straight and consistent framing system that won’t warp, shrink or twist over time, helping maintain the building’s structural integrity throughout its service life.
THE RESULT
Macri Builders received an accurate, coordinated light gauge steel framing system that supported an efficient build and met the demands of a commercial childcare facility. By arriving ready for assembly and aligning with the approved plans, the framing system helped keep installation on schedule, allowed following trades to begin their work as planned, and supported the overall construction program.
